Phantasm Ravager Runtime/World Premiere Revealed

Today brings forth several news items regarding the long-awaited Phantasm Ravager. The first news item is that the film will be holding its world premiere at the famous Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas late this September. Word is that Don Coscarelli will be in attendance for the special event. With any luck, director/co-writer David Hartman and some of the cast will be on hand as well.

The festival's official description reads: Phantasm Ravager is the concluding chapter of Don Coscarelli’s always independent, unexpected and subversive Phantasm film series. After spanning four decades, Phantasm Ravager completes the story of intrepid ex-ice cream vendor Reggie (Reggie Bannister, a veteran of all five Phantasm films) in his lifelong pursuit of his nemesis, the malevolent Tall Man. In this final entry, Reggie is forced to confront the mysteries of death which always lie at the dark heart of the Phantasm saga. With actor Angus Scrimm’s recent passing, Phantasm Ravager stands as the final on-screen acting performance of this iconic horror star. For the first time, Phantasm creator Don Coscarelli has turned over the directing reins to a new, first-time director in Emmy-nominated animator David Hartman. The entire original cast is back including A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, Kat Lester and Angus Scrimm.

The other big news item is that we now officially know how long Phantasm Ravager will be... and that is 87-minutes long. This makes it the shortest film in the entire series, but not by much since Phantasm movies usually clock in around the 90-minute mark. (Because you're surely wondering, Phantasm II is the longest Phantasm with a 97-minute runtime.)

(Thanks to Peter Marullo for the scoops!)
